The Wedding Planning Timeline

Congratulations on your engagement! Now what? It can be a difficult transition to suddenly find yourself planning your wedding.

This is why I’ve created my own wedding planning timeline to help you stay on top in the planning process. We do not want an overwhelmed bride!

If you hire Jules Marie Events as your coordinator and/or planner, we will be using this checklist throughout our time together.

12 Months Before

  • Determine A Budget And How Expenses Will Be Shared
  • Decide The Style, Size, General Location, And Formality Of Your Wedding
  • Choose A Flexible Wedding Day And Ceremony Time. (The Wedding Day Is Flexible To Cater To Venue Availability.)
  • Get Pinteresting! Gather Ideas For Your Big Day!
  • Visit And Reserve Ceremony And Reception Venues
  • Start Compiling A Guest List

11 Months Before

  • Select A Caterer
  • Choose A Color Scheme
  • Choose The Overall Design
  • Book The Band And/Or DJ
  • Book The Photographer
  • Book The Videographer

10 Months Before

  • Start Shopping For The Wedding Dress
  • Book Hotel Room Blocks For Guests
  • Start Creating Your Wedding Website
  • Take Engagement Photos
  • Start Looking Into Invitations

9 Months Before

  • Send Out Save The Dates
  • Buy Your Wedding Dress!

8 Months Before

  • Choose The Bridesmaids Dresses And Schedule Fitting
  • Meet With The Florist
  • Register For Gifts

7 Months Before

  • Hire An Officiant
  • Order Rental Items (I.e. Arches, Pillars, Linens, Chairs)
  • Book Rehearsal Dinner Venue

6 Months Before

  • Hire A Lighting Technician
  • Book Transportation For Guests
  • Begin Premarital Counseling

5 Months Before

  • Book The Honeymoon
  • Rent Or Buy The Groom’s Tuxedo
  • Book The Bride And Groom’s Transportation

4 Months Before

  • Have Your Final Tasting With The Caterer
  • Buy Wedding Bands
  • Choose Your Cake
  • Select Groomsmen Attire And Schedule Fittings
  • Hair And Makeup Trial

3 Months Before

  • Finalize The Menu
  • Order Invitations
  • Brainstorm Favors Or Gift Bags
  • Write Your Vows
  • Select Readings
  • Meet With The Officiant
  • Book A Photobooth Rental
  • Start Crafting DIY Items

2 Months Before

  • Send Wedding Invitations
  • Have Your First Wedding Dress Fitting
  • Pick Up Marriage License
  • Give Song Selections To DJ And/Or Band
  • Purchase Bridal Party Gifts
  • Buy All The Small Items (I.E. Guest Book, Garter, Cake Cutting Set, Ring Bearer Pillow)

1 Month Before

  • Finish Vendor Payments
  • Create A Seating Chart
  • Assemble Gift Bags
  • Create Place Cards
  • Have A Venue Walk-Through

Final Week

  • Get Your Hair And Nails Done
  • Get A Massage
  • Have Your Final Dress Fitting
  • Get Rings Cleaned
  • Pack Your Bags For The Honeymoon
  • Get Final Rsvps
  • Practice Reading Your Vows OUT LOUD
  • Write A Letter To Your Future Spouse

Hopefully this helped you put everything in perspective. While this may look like a lot, It will help to section up the to-dos of your big day. I highly recommend booking with a wedding planner, after booking the venue, to have someone to take on this load for you.
